The End of new AirBnB listings?
Material Change of Use = Increased GCCC Rates + Prohibitive Development Application Costs
Recent changes to the Gold Coast City Plan have introduced a requirement that all new AirBnB hosts must apply to the Gold Coast City Council for a Material Change of Use development approval (MCU). As with all Development Applications there is no guarantee of approval and many prospective hosts will be shocked to learn the non-refundable application fees are more than $8,000 !
It is likely that GCCC Rates will also be adjusted in the case of a successful application.
Consequently, the number of new AirBnB listings on the Gold-Coast will be considerably reduced.
